        For Osteen, receiving blessings is just as important as bestowing them. He describes how his ideas were shaped by coming of age during the Great Depression. During this time, the frugality he exercised in his daily life began to influence his spiritual life. While narrator Paul Osteen, John’s son, isn’t a professional actor, he has a folksy, down-to-earth quality. He lacks the force of his more bombastic brother Joel, a pastor who writes his own books and narrates the audio editions. But this is appropriate given the book’s subject matter, which is meant to help people reconcile themselves with blessings and grace. A FaithWords hardcover.
